Sand — Henty Dunes & Macquarie Harbour
The wild South West Coast of Tasmania
The Henty Dunes near Zeehan on the south-west coast of Tasmania are among the most spectacular coastal dunes in Australia — massive moving hills of white quartzite sand that have been driven inland by the ferocious Roaring Forties. Macquarie Harbour, adjacent to the old penal colony and timber port of Strahan, is one of the largest harbours in Australia, fed by the Gordon and Franklin rivers from the wild interior.
