The Floating Cathedral
A visit to Salisbury Cathedral
Salisbury Cathedral is notable for several reasons: as a refined example of early English Gothic architecture; for the speed of its completion (1220–1258); for its remarkable 123m spire, still the tallest in England; and for its situation in a watery meadow bordered to the south and west by the River Avon.
For more on the fabric and history of this remarkable building — including one of the four remaining original copies of the Magna Carta — please download the PDF album (about 22MB).
